Sefer Tehilim – Safed, 1833

Sefer Tehilim with the Biurei Zohar and Metzudat Tzion commentary. Safed, 1833, Rabbi Israel Beck printing press.
Foreword by Rabbi Israel Beck – the printer – on the back of the title page “And all the buyers who will spend their money to buy books printed here in the Holy Land, Books of Tehilim especially, with the Zohar, to have and to keep, will be saved and protected by Hashem from all harm...”.
Lengthy introduction by Rabbi Gershon Margaliot, who brought the book to press, in which he speaks about how he insisted Beck shouldn’t print the Kabbalistic commentary “Biurei Zohar” by itself, but on the side of the Tehilim verses, as it was printed eventually.
The “Kavanat Ha-Meshorer” was printed above each Psalm. The volume also includes prayers to be recited prior and after reading Tehilim during week days, Shabbat, Festivals and the night of Hoshana Raba, a prayer for the sick and the Seder Pidyon Ha-Nefesh.
[4], 9-152 leaves – missing 8 leaves following the introduction, 14.5 cm. High quality light paper, good-fair condition. Stains on the inner margins of some leaves. Moth damage. Title page and last page are detached. Antique leather binding.
Rare. Among the first books ever printed by Rabbi Israel Beck in Safed, a year after he founded his press in the city.
