Letter from the Minchat Elazar – Munkacs, 1933 – Appeal for Support for the Grand Wedding of the Rebbe's Only Daughter

Letter from the committee organizing the wedding of the daughter of the Minchat Elazar of Munkacs. With the addition of two lines handwritten and signed by the rebbe. [Munkacs (Mukachevo), Tevet 1933].
Addressed to the philanthropist R. Eliezer Bollag of Baden. Appeal (in Yiddish) for help in sponsoring the costs of the wedding of the rebbe's only daughter, which would be held in Shevat. With various details about the preparations for the grand wedding. Mimeographed typescript, on the rebbe's official stationery, completed by hand and signed by the members of the committee.
At the foot of the letter, the rebbe added words of blessing in his handwriting, with his signature.
Rebbe Chaim Elazar Shapira Rabbi of Munkacs (1872-1937) was a leading Torah scholar, halachic authority, rebbe and kabbalist in his generation. Author of Minchat Elazar and many other Torah works.
His only daughter (born to him in his old age, from his second marriage) married R. Baruch Yehoshua Yerachmiel Rabinowitz (1915-1998), son of Rebbe Nathan David, a scion of the Biala dynasty. The wedding was documented in the press as the largest Jewish wedding of those times.
