Mishneh Torah, Yad HaChazakah by the Rambam. Berditchev: Shmuel son of Yissachar Ber Segal, [1808-1809]. First edition of the Rambam printed in Berditchev. Complete set in four volumes.
Ownership inscription in the center of the title page of vol. I, attesting that the book belongs to Rebbe Menachem Nachum Twersky of Trisk (Turiisk). Other ownership inscriptions.
Rebbe Menachem Nachum Twersky of Trisk and Brisk (1829-1887), eldest son of the Magen Avraham – Rebbe Avraham, Maggid of Trisk. After fleeing from Russia in 1885, he settled in a suburb of Brisk, where he established his court. He entertained friendly ties with the Beit HaLevi Rabbi of Brisk, who eulogized him upon his passing a short while later.
Four volumes: [8], 278 leaves; [4], 260 leaves; [2], 389, [1] leaves; [2], 310 leaves. 36.5 cm. Overall good condition. Stains, including dampstains. Some wear. Worming. New bindings, incorporating parts of the original leather bindings.
