Ownership inscriptions on the title page and leaf 2 of "Yosef, grandson of the Rebbetzin of Graniv", possibly in reference to Rebbetzin Chanah Ita, sister of Rebbe Yisrael of Ruzhin and wife of R. Yitzchak of Graniv (son of R. Mordechai of Kremenets).
The author, R. Yosef David Hakohen (d. 1828), prominent early Chassidic leader. Served as rabbi of Zawałów and later succeeded the Ohev Yisrael as rabbi of Iași, where he set up his Beit Midrash.

Tiny marginal tears (including open tears) to title page and other leaves, not affecting text, repaired in part with tape. Stamp. New leather binding.
