Hakdamah VeDerech L'Etz HaChaim – Lviv, 1832 – First Edition

Hakdamah VeDerech L'Etz HaChaim, on the study of Kabbalah, by Rebbe Tzvi Hirsh of Zidichov. Lviv, [1832]. False imprint: Jides [Yehudit] Rosanes, 1804.
The book is divided into two parts: Sur MeRa and VeAseh Tov. In later editions, the book was published under the joint title – Sur MeRa VeAseh Tov.
The actual year of printing is hinted to in the chronogram at the foot of the title page, which indicates the year 5592 (=1832; this year is also stated in the publisher's foreword and in other places). This type of falsification was common in Chassidic books printed in Galicia at that time, due to censorship restrictions and the persecution of Chassidim by the Haskalah movement (A. Yaari lists 11 books with similar false imprints).
Rebbe Tzvi Hirsh Eichenstein, the Ateret Tzvi of Zidichov (1763-1831), was known by the name "Sar Beit HaZohar" due to his exceptional knowledge of kabbalah. Close disciple of the Chozeh of Lublin. Under his leadership, Zidichov became one of the largest and most prominent Chassidic centers in Galicia.
