Almshouses – Letter from the Ho"d Kollel Leaders – Jerusalem, 1870
Handwritten letter in German, from the leaders of the Holland-Deutschland (Ho"d) Kollel, addressed to Rabbi Y. Fishman from Pressburg. Jerusalem, [1870].
The letter describes the laying of the “Har Tzion Poor Almshouse” cornerstone inauguration that took place in the Old City. Hand signed by the following leaders: Y. H. Marcus, Z. Hausdorff, Bergman, M. Goldshmidt and Meir Scheinbaum.
Stamped by the “Community of the Ashkenazi Ohavei Zion for the building of almshouses for the poor…”.
Includes an appendix to the letter with the names of the rabbis and presidents of the Holland-Deutschland Kollel.
