Ornamental Pewter Plate for the Redemption of the Firstborn Ceremony – France, Mid-19th Century

Ornamental pewter plate for the redemption of the firstborn ceremony. [Presumably France, ca. mid-19th century].
Pewter, repoussé.
Handsome plate with rococo-style vegetal pattern; depicting Aaron the high priest, the ark of the covenant surmounted by the cherubim and the seven-branched lamp; inscribed "Aaron the high priest". All three images are designed after a French medal by Barre, 1827 (The Feuchtwanger Collection, no. 751; Narkis [see below] incorrectly dates it 1767). The plate is described (and shown) in an article by Mordechai Narkis, describing Jewish ornamental plates from the Bezalel collection (featured in Bezalel Archives, Quarterly Review for Bezalel Art, no. III-IV vol. I, Tamuz 1928).
Diameter: 28 cm. Good condition. Some damage.
