Two Medallions – Anzac Day 1918 – "Gallipoli, France, Palestine"

Two commemorative medallions marking Anzac Day, a memorial day dedicated to fallen Australian and New Zealander soldiers, issued on behalf of the Education Department of Victoria, Australia. Australia, 1918. Obverse: Bust of Australian soldier with legend: "Honor to the A.I.F." (Australian Imperial Force). Marked at bottom with the initials "H.H." (Harry Harvey) and "S & S" (Stokes and Sons). Reverse: Image of scroll adorned with laurels, inscribed with the names of the three main battlefronts where ANZAC (Australia and New Zealand Army Corps) soldiers were deployed during World War I: "Gallipoli / France / Palestine." Inscribed along perimeter: "EVD [Education Department of Victoria] / ANZAC Day 1918." Bronze medallions; one silvered. Diameter: 27 mm. With suspension rings.
