Ketubah - Alexandria (Egypt), 1828 - Signatures of Rabbi Natan Amram Author of Kinyan Perot and Rabbi Yechezkel Eliezer Abulafia Emissary of Tiberias

Ketubah. Alexandria (Egypt), Kislev 1828.
Semi-cursive Oriental script (title and several words in square script). Set in a decorative colored border.
Signatures of the groom and witnesses at the foot of the ketubah - calligraphic signature (damaged) of R. Yechezkel Eliezer Abulafia emissary of Tiberias, and two calligraphic signatures of R. Natan Amram (one of them authenticating the groom's signature).
R. Natan Amram (1791-1871), author of Kinyan Perot, Kinyan HaGuf and Noam HaMidot. Served as emissary for Tiberias and Hebron in Alexandria, Turkey and Greece, and was later appointed dayan and eventually rabbi of Alexandria.
R. Yechezkel Eliezer Abulafia (d. 1859), a Torah scholar of Tiberias. Travelled to Italy and Europe as emissary on behalf of the Tiberias community. His visit to Alexandria was hitherto undocumented. In 1838, an argument with the heads of the Tiberias community caused them to cancel his appointment as emissary.
