Incense Burner – Syria – "Ben Porat Yosef"

Incense burner. Syria, [late 19th or early 20th century].
Copper, repoussé and pierced, polychrome enamel.
Incense burner consisting of two parts – a wide-rimmed bowl and a perforated cover, both with vegetal patterns. Cover removable, spherical in shape, with pierced apertures for smoke, arranged to create vegetal pattern, and with inscription in large Hebrew letters: "Ben Porat Yosef".
Height: 14.5 cm. Maximum diameter: 14.5 cm. Fractures and warping to copper. Blemishes to enamel decorations. Upper ornament (at top of cover) missing. Supporting bowl possibly not original or missing its legs or stand.
