Familial Letter from R. Yaakov Yisrael Kanievsky – The Steipler
Familial letter handwritten and signed by R. Yaakov Yisrael Kanievsky, the Steipler.
The letter deals with various family matters, mentioning that "our mother has probably already written in detail". He writes: "Regarding Chaim, in my lowly opinion, when he studies practical aspects of halachah he will be fitting to became a rabbi, and I have not heard about his state of health…".
It seems that the letter is addressed to one of his family members, possibly to his brother-in-law, his wife's brother, Rabbi Avraham Yeshaya Karelitz, author of the Chazon Ish (it is unclear who is the Chaim he is referring to).
