Collection of "Shanah Tovah" Postcards and Greeting Cards

27 "Shanah Tovah" postcards and greeting cards. Various publishers, Poland, Germany, France, Palestine and elsewhere, late 19th century and the first decades of the 20th century.
The collection contains postcards depicting holiday customs and scenes of Jewish life – Tashlich, Kiddush, lighting candles and more; romantic postcards depicting happy families, children bearing flowers and more, some of them decorated with greetings for the New Year; postcards and greeting cards decorated with flowers and garlands; and more. Among the postcards: • A postcard with the greeting "May you be inscribed for a good year" in Hebrew and German. Sent from Switzerland to the USA in 1895. • "Shanah Tovah" greeting card, printed in gold on red transparency, with greetings in French and Hebrew. • A postcard with the greeting "May you be inscribed for a good year" (Hebrew) depicting a farmer sowing his land.
