Halichot Olam, on the techniques of Mishnah and Talmud, By Rabbi Yeshuah HaLevi from Talmasan. With an introduction to the Talmud by Rabbi Shmuel HaNaggid. Venice, 1544.
Rabbi Yeshuah HaLevi (Otzar HaRabbanim 11722), of the early sages of Algiers, fled to Spain in 1467, as he relates in the introduction to the book, and settled in Toledo, where he compiled this book that became a fundamental work on the principles of the Talmud, by request of Don Vidal ben Lavi.
At the head of the title page is an interesting ownership inscription in early Spanish handwriting, where the writer notes that he had always understood the magnitude of the Torah until one day he decided to take upon himself to buy as many books as possible, and concludes that sees Heavenly assistance and has begun to uphold his word. Owner's signature in old German handwriting: "Mordechai, descended from Yaffe, Ba'al HaLevushim".
Two glosses (cropped) in Spanish writing on the pages of the book.
37, [1] leaf. 19 cm. Light colored paper, good condition. Slightly stained. New cloth binding.
