Silver, cast and engraved.
1. Round amulet with scalloped rim and two suspension loops. Engraved Hebrew inscriptions on both sides, including names of the rivers Euphrates, Tigris, Pishon, and Gihon in cipher. Diameter: 6 cm.
2. Round amulet with scalloped rim and two suspension loops. Engraved Hebrew inscriptions on front (undeciphered). Holes at bottom, probably for either bells or small pendants. Diameter: 7.5 cm.
3. Healing amulet in form of stylized leaf, with two suspension loops. On front, Hebrew name of G-d, names of angels, and "Jerusalem." On back, Hebrew initials of Moses's prayer for the healing of his sister Miriam, and name of amulet owner: "Sarah Bibi daughter of Esther Barah." 7X5.5 cm.

At center, relief of hand ("hamsa") symbol, Hebrew name of G-d, and the Hebrew inscriptions "Jerusalem" and "Ben Porat Yosef" (the latter being Jacob's biblical blessing to Joseph [Deuteronomy 49:22], used against the Evil Eye). Edges with floral pattern. Diameter: 6 cm.
2. Round amulet with two suspension loops. On either side, Hebrew acronym of "Ana Bekoach." Diameter: 3.5 cm. Minor blemishes.
3. Small amulet in form of hand ("hamsa") symbol. Various Hebrew inscriptions engraved on front, mostly as initials. Marked "925" on back. Length: 3 cm.

1. Amuletic saucer. [Iraq?]. Flat saucer with scalloped rim. At center, engraved image of scorpion and Hebrew inscription "Mazal," encompassed by circles with initials of verses for protection and defense. Diameter: 12 cm.
2. Fish-shaped amulet. Engraved Hebrew inscriptions: protective verses, names of G-d, and "Incantation against the Evil Eye." Maximum dimensions: 16X8.5. Suspension ring. Additional ring missing.

Two amulets for protection of the home. Qamishli, Syrian Kurdistan, [early 20th century].
Ink on paper; cardboard and glass frames.
Content of both amulets mostly the same, with minor differences. On both, the hand ("hamsa") symbol appears at center; pair of Stars of David; pair of leafy-branched images (see also item no. 140), encircled by initials of verses, kabbalistic letter combinations, names of angels, and other holy names. The smaller amulet also has an acronym of "Ana Bekoach" in left margin. Other minor differences also exist.
1. 12.5X9.5 cm. Good condition. 2. 10.5X8.5 cm. Fair condition. Stains. Glass on one amulet broken; amulet wrapped in nylon and adhesive tape.

Set of five amulets, all written by same kabbalist, for protection of the home and household. [Palestine?, first half of 20th century].

One amulet, rectangular (widthwise), and four amulets, rectangular (lengthwise), all for protection of the home. All five include dozens of initials of verses, kabbalistic letter combinations, names of angels, and holy names. The widthwise amulet opens with an incantation to ward off evil spirits, etc. The four lengthwise amulet all feature a Star of David in the center, letters in kabbalistic "angelic script," and rectangular frames in the upper right corner, instructing the owner on where to hang up the amulet on various walls of the house – "North," "South," "East," and "West." All five amulets are set in frames of cardboard and glass, with suspension rings on back.
One amulet 14X9.5 cm. Four amulets 13X11 cm. Overall good condition. Browning to paper. Few stains. Minor abrasions to frame cardboard.

Good condition. Few stains and abrasions to paper. Glass broken.
2. Amulet for general welfare and prosperity, with Psalms 108, followed by a prayer, which, basing itself on the aforementioned chapter of Psalms, entreats G-d to bless the homeowner with general welfare, prosperity, tranquility, and security. 11X13.5 cm. Good condition. Stains and rust.
3. Amulet for the protection of the home and household. Inscriptions in Hebrew; Star of David at center, encircled by the words of "Shema Yisrael" ("Hear O Israel..."), acronym of "Ana Bekoach," names of angels, names of G-d, and more. 10X10.5 cm. Good condition. Minor abrasions to frame cardboard.

Amulet for protection of the newborn child and the new mother, "Majidah daughter of Esther," according to the kabbalistic work "Sefer Raziel HaMalakh" (Book of Raziel the Angel), with illustrations of angels that guard against the female demon Lilith. Written entirely in square script.
Approximately 12.5X19.5 cm. Stains. Minor tears and fold lines. Set in frame (not examined outside of frame).

Ink on parchment; shaped sheet silver, repoussé and engraved, silver thread; sheet brass, cut and shaped.
1. Amulet in rectangular format, to protect the woman "Baya daughter of Mantina," (inscribed in Hebrew) to bless her with health and pregnancy. Amulet folded up into a small square and housed in a case made of brass sheet, cut and shaped. The name "Baya" was common in Tunisia. Case: 3.5X3 cm.
2. Amulet in long, narrow format, to protect "Mazal daughter of Sa'adah," and bless her with security and health. Written in strikingly elegant square script. Kept in a flowery-patterned cloth, housed in turn inside a silver case, with two suspension loops and with an ornament in the form of a Star of David. Case: 5X4.5 cm. Fair condition. Minor warping and fractures. No cover.

1. Parchment amulet in long, narrow format, to protect "Shalom son of Makhlouf." The layout of the text is unconventional; the text is arranged into circles and diamond shapes in a style reminiscent of the kabbalistic diagram known as the "Tree of Life" or "Tree of Sefirot."
2. Parchment amulet in long, narrow format, written on both sides, to protect "Esther daughter of Simhah Zulikha."
3. Parchment amulet in long, narrow format, to protect "Ye'oshu'a son of Aziza."
4-5. Two parchment amulets in rectangular format. One to protect "Avraham Hayyim son of Sa'oudah" and "Shulamit Soulikah daughter of Hannah"; the other for the protection of "Sarah daughter of Grazia [or Garcia]," and to bless her with finding a mate and earning a livelihood.
