Letter banning slaughterer who deviated from the path of Torah and joined the Status Quo sect in Kirchdorf, by Rabbi Pesach Singer Av Beit Din of Kirchdorf. Wallendorf, Tishrei (1885).
Margins of letter contain additional short letter in the holy handwriting and signature of the Rebbe Rabbi Yechezkel Shraga Halberstam Av Beit Din of Sieniawa, who writes: "I was requested to express my opinion in this matter, and it is well known that it is forbidden to eat food slaughtered by a slaughterer who disobeys Beit Din and behaves with insolence toward the rabbi, and he who obeys will be blessedג€¦". On margins of issue the "Divrei Yechezkel" added an additional response pertaining to the same matter. The holy Rebbe Rabbi Yechezkel Shraga Halberstam (1815-1899), eldest son of the Admor author of the "Divrei Chaim" of Sanz. Giant in Torah, in the revealed and hidden, in Halacha and Chassidut. During the lifetime of his father he was already considered one of the leading rabbis and rebbes of his generation. Holy and pure from youth, served the greatest rebbes and was considered their prominent disciple. Was known as a miracle worker. It is known in his name that he would instruct his students that they save his letters which will provide protection and salvation.
The Ga'on Rabbi Pesach Singer (1816-1898), son-in-law of Rabbi Aharon Yosef Shmuel HaLevi Av Beit Din of Trencin disciple of the "Chatam Sofer". In 1846 was appointed as Rabbi of Palata and from 1871 served as Av Beit Din of Kirchdorf. Among the greatest rabbis during the generation of the "Ktav Sofer"; fought for the observance of religion and the establishment of the Orthodox congregations in the Austro-Hungarian countries, which is apparent in this letter.

Ruling of Rabbis of Pesaro, Rabbi Moshe Chizkiya HaLevi and others - Pesaro (Italy), (1575). The ruling, pertaining to a monetary dispute between the executors of the estate of Rabbi Yitzchak of Volterra, regarding rental payments to Rabbi Gershon, the father of the maidservant in his home. Written and signed by the arbitrating Dayanim. Signed: "Beit Levi Moshe Chizkiya son of Rabbi Yitzchak HaLeviג€¦" [arbitration], along with writing and signature of two additional Dayanim [not deciphered], one of them signs: "I [?] grandson of Moshe Ibn Nachman".
The Ga'on Rabbi Moshe Chizkiya HaLevi, among the greatest scholars of Italy in his generation (his ruling from the year 1566, on the Tamari-Vintorotzo divorce, is mentioned in the Mabit responsa. Halachic verdict letter on the matter of alimony payments deduced from the father's assets, Eastern handwriting, ornate rabbinical signatures of Rabbi Raphael Elazar Ha-Levi and Rabbi Raphael Chaim Binyamin Peretz. Constantinople, 1846.
The well-known Gaon Rabbi Raphael Chaim Binyamin Peretz, of the leading rabbis of Turkey in his generation, served as rabbi and Av Beit Din in the cities of Dardenelles and Gallipoli. Authored the "Zichrono Le-Chaim" (Salonika-Izmir, 1867-1872) and published the "Avnei Shoham" (Salonika, 1848) written by his father Rabbi Avraham Peretz.

Letter handwritten and signed by Rabbi Malkiel Zvi HaLevi Tennenbaum Av Beit Din of Lomza, to Rabbi Yoel Herzog. Lomza, 1902.
Rabbi Malkiel Tennenbaum (1847-1910), a prominent rabbi and posek of his generation, was renowned for his great Torah genius and wrote many responses which were printed in the seven volumes of his responsa Divrei Malkiel. He was known as a holy man and masses knocked on his door with requests for blessings and salvation. Rabbi Herzog writes about him, "in addition to his genius in halacha, he was well-versed in kabbala and would study Torah secrets into the late hours of the night".
The letter recipient: Rabbi Yoel Leib Herzog (1865-1935), of Lomza, who immigrated to England in 1899 and served there in the rabbinate. In 1911, he moved to Paris. Studied all the Talmud in depth with his brilliant son Rabbi Yitzchak Isaac [later Chief Rabbi of Eretz Israel] who was less than 16 years old at the time.

Document of marriage contract and tena'im, of the groom R' Refael Deitsch and his father Rabbi Mendel, with the bride and her father Rabbi Shmuel Wolf Sofer. Pressburg, April 1855.
The document is written in German and signed by Rabbi Shmuel Wolf, Av Beit Din: Rabbi Menachem Mendel and his son the groom Faul (Refael); the bride Regina (Rachel). Witnesses: Rabbi Mendel Cohen (disciple of the Chatam Sofer, scribe and community trustee of Pressburg); Rabbi David Neiman (Head of Pressburg Beit Din, author of Nir L'David).
Rabbi Refael HaLevi Deitsch, son of Rabbi Menachem Mendel of Nִƒpradea, married the daughter of his rabbi, author of "Ktav Sofer", Rabbi Avraham Shmuel Binyamin Sofer (called Rabbi Shmuel Wolf). A letter of recommendation to his disciple Rabbi Ya'akov Moshe Zimmerman: "The rabbi great in Torah and fear of Heavenג€¦ Rabbi Ya'akov Mosheג€¦ met with me and we discussed a halachic issue and this man is great in knowledge of all the details and has sharp understanding and breadth of knowledgeג€¦ because he is full of blessing and honesty and is a treasureג€¦".
Rabbi Chaim HaLevi Soloveitchik (1813-1918, Otzar HaRabbanim 6090), an outstanding Rosh Yeshiva in Lithuania and a leader of his generation, author of "Chidushei Rabbeinu Chaim HaLevi" paved a new manner of studying Torah in depth. Born in Volozhin to his father Rabbi Yoseph Dov Soloveitchik, Head of Volozhin Yeshiva and author of "Beit HaLevi", he married the daughter of Rabbi Refael Shapira Head of Volozhin Yeshiva and granddaughter of the Netziv. Later, appointed as Head of Volozhin Yeshiva. After its closing, moved to serve as rabbi in Brisk succeeding his father. In Brisk, chosen disciples gathered around him to learn Torah. His son is Rabbi Yitzchak Ze'ev Soloveitchik "the Brisker Rav".
His disciple, recipient of the letter, is Rabbi Ya'akov Moshe Zimmerman (1881-1961), son of Rabbi Avraham Yitzchak Zimmerman - son-in-law of Rabbi Baruch Dov (Ber) Leibovitz. In his youth, he traveled to Volozhin and learned Torah from Rabbi Chaim, after which he moved to learn in the yeshiva of his brother-in-law Rabbi Baruch Ber in Slobodka. Two letters by Rabbi Moshe Guttman, to the management of "Torat Chaim" Yeshiva in Jerusalem. Brisk of Lithuania, Cheshvan 1923; Av 1925.
In the first letter the writer advises how to request from the Ga'avad [Rabbi Yitzchak Ze'ev Soloveitchik, who was appointed at that time Rabbi of Brisk] to head the committee for the yeshiva's benefit, to be his father, Rabbi Chaim's successor: "Write to him and request that he head and preside over the committee like his father and that he sign letters and write as necessary. And I note that I saw a letter sent to him and they should have written with the titles of honor also Pe'er Hador since this is the customג€¦". In the second letter he writes to them that "when they send the letter to the Ga'avad, they should also send a letter to Rabbi Chaim Ozer Grodzinsky in Vilna and request that he act to benefit the yeshiva".
Rabbi Moshe Guttman (1866-1933), a dayan of the city of Brisk, trustworthy assistant of Rabbi Chaim of Brisk, who in 1896 brought him from the city of Orla to serve in the Brisk Beit Din and manage the committee that supervises the Torat Chaim Yeshiva in Jerusalem. 20 emissaries were sent under his administration throughout Russia to collect money for the yeshiva. After his exile during World War I, he returned to Brisk and attempted to renew the collections for the "Torat Chaim" Yeshiva as reflected by these letters.

Rabbi Shlomo HaCohen (1831-1906), was a leading rabbi and the eldest rabbi of Vilna of his generation, author of "Cheshek Shlomo", "Binyan Shlomo" etc. Colleague of the Chafetz Chaim.

Rabbi Aryeh Leib Cohen Popko (1861-1939), an outstanding genius, beloved son and right-hand of the Chafetz Chaim, disciple of his father and disciple of the author of "Beit HaLevi" and Lithuanian Torah giants. A leading scholar of his generation, his father prevented him from taking a rabbinic position. He participated in the writing of the "Mishna Berura" and wrote complete simanim.
The recipient, Rabbi Yoel Leib HaLevi Herzog (1865-1935), served at that time as head of the Beit Din in Paris. Father and teacher of the Chief Rabbi of Eretz Israel Rabbi Yitzchak Isaac HaLevi Herzog. Rabbi Yoel used to erase the title HaGaon from letters he received, and in this letter as well the letter is torn in place of this word.
Official stationery. Approx. 28 cm. Good condition, light folding marks, hole in place of erasure.
