484 Siddur and Machzor, Amsterdam 1712 – Rare Miniature 29. Siddurim and and Prayer Books

Year-round prayers according to Sefardi custom, machzor for festivals, machzor for the Days of Awe and prayers for fast days. Amsterdam, 1712. Shlomo Katz Proops printing press.
Miniature volume with four books and four title pages: 166, 467-468, [8] leaves; [1], 178-309 leaves; [1], 310-468 leaves; [1], 470-538 leaves. 10.5 cm. Good condition, few stains and wear, leaf cut near title. Elaborate antique leather binding, slightly rubbed. Rare edition. In the Bibliography Institute CD Listing 0325941, the siddur is listed according to a missing copy only until Leaf 467, without 468 and without [8] leaves of the "calendar of days" found in this copy.

485 Yad Kol Bo – Prayer Book from Frankfurt am Main – Important Signatures 29. Siddurim and and Prayer Books

Yad Kol Bo prayer book – published by Rabbi Petachya son of Rabbi David Lyda, Frankfurt am Main, (1726). Two title pages, one illustrated. Various inscriptions and glosses. Interesting ownership inscription on first title page: “… belongs to
Michel Geiger”. [Rabbi Michel Geiger, cantor in Frankfurt am Main in 1818, his son, Rabbi Zalman published the book "Divrei Kohelet", based upon the customs of his father and rabbis]. Ancient handwritten signature on leaf 3: “Yechiel Michel Oppenheim” [apparently refers to the Ga’on Rabbi Yechiel Michel Oppenheim, Av Beit Din of Friedburg since 1708, son-in-law of the great and famous Torah genius Rabbi David Oppenheim. Passed away in 1750. See Otzar HaRabbanim 9428].
“Yad Kol Bo” – collection of prayers and Halacha books, Pirkei Avot, Tehilim and Ma’amadot with various commentaries. Edited by Rabbi David Lyda, Rabbi of
Amsterdam, his son Rabbi Petachya and his son-in-law Rabbi Moshe Mirelsh. [For additional information regarding the book and objections that it raised see: Aharon Freiman – Rabbi David Lyda and his justification in the “Be’er Esek”, the Jubilee book in honor of Nachum Sokolov, Warsaw 1904, page 458].
[2], 94, 59, 4, [2], 5-74, 34, 54, 40 leaves. 32 cm. Fair condition, wear, stains and moth damage. Tears on first title page and on additional leaves. Restorations of old paper. Original, luxurious and damaged leather coated wooden binding, with clasp remnants.

Machzor with Kavanat HaPaytan, as customary in Ashkenaz and other holy congregations, with translation and commentaries in Yiddish. Amsterdam, [1768]. Props Printing Press.
Complete nine-volume set. Machzorim for Rosh HaShana, Yom Kippur, Sukkot, Pesach and Shavu’ot. All Machzorim contain additional title page with magnificent copper etching (Bibliography Institute CD lists these title pages for only three volumes).
17 cm. Good condition. Stains. Single tear. New bindings.

[2], 9-492, [8] ; [1], 474 pages. 13 pages missing at the end. 14 cm. Good condition. Stains, wear and tear. Some leaves detached from binding. Tortoise shell binding [?] and metal clasps.

“As customary in four holy congregations… in district of Vigishin which includes Carpentras, Avingon, Lishelva and Cavaillon”.
[1], 258; 17, 20-29, [7] leaves. 18.5 cm. Good condition. Few stains. Margins on three leaves restored with glue. Semi-leather binding.
Rare. Only five Hebrew books were printed in Avignon (France) during the 18th-19th century.

French, with Hebrew headings.
Purple velvet binding, with binding decorations and (unstamped) silver clasp, ornamented with flowered patterns. One of decorations contains monogram [apparently initials of name of owner].
XVI; 710, [1]; 14 pages. 14 cm. Good-fair condition. Stains, pasting restoration on several leaves. Partially detached and damaged binding.
